No Clear Majority

Well, it's official.

On the point I made in the NYT and Jerusalem Post, there is substantial confirmation by the same outfit that all the media quote when they want to prove Israel is going Left, the March 2006 Peace Index of The Evens Program in Mediation - The Tami Steinetz Center and Conflict Resolution for Peace Research.

Here:-

As for the implications of the election results for the vital interests of the state in the political- security, social, and economic spheres, it turns out that only regarding the social field does a clear majority believe the elections were beneficial (41%, vs. 21% who claimed they were harmful or will have no impact), while for the other two fields opinions are equally divided.

Twenty- nine percent think the elections will be beneficial from a security standpoint, 28.5% say they will be harmful, and 24% do not expect them to change anything. As for the economic sphere, here the numbers are 29%, 29%, and 21%, respectively.
